We have spent several years bringing this property back to its old glory — renovating the main house, cottage , pool, and grounds. We also turned the old tractor shed barn into a magnificent site that we call The Fox Den at Briar Patch for events up to people such as weddings , parties, family reunions, fundraisers, and the like, as well as for business and other organization meetings.

We added a new building with an additional three bedrooms called the Chicken Coop on the site of a former chicken coop. Schedule Tour. This place is a dream come true. Book Now Middleburg, VA. Skip to image rotation. Please use up and down arrow keys to navigate between images.

Skip to primary content. The venue is beautiful and we wanted to be able to enjoy time with the wedding party and family for the entire weekend, which this venue allowed. They are extremely flexible and don't try to dictate every aspect of your stay there. They also go I wasn't even going to have formal tables set up for the rehearsal dinner very informal, and I didn't want to add extra factors into an already busy weekend but they asked and I said sure why not.

They then proceeded to set up an entire area with tables and chairs to have a more structured rehearsal dinner, which was great. They even ran some errands for us when a family member or wedding party member would have had to do it otherwise. It really saved us time and hassle. That all being said, sometimes it is hard to locate employees on the premises during the weekend, but if you get one of their phone numbers, it isn't too hard to find whatever answer you are looking for.

The venue is more expensive, but you get the whole place all weekend, includes breakfasts, and they don't nickel and dime you with random fees like some places do cake cutting, corkage fee, bringing outside vendor, bringing your own liquor, etc. The money we saved by having everything at one venue and being able to bring in our own vendors and alcohol likely made up the difference between having the wedding at another venue. I would recommend this venue. We had a few things we wanted in mind.

We wanted a "semi-destination" where we and our close family and friends could get away from the crazy Northern Virginia lifesty We drove up the long gravel driveway, under the canopy of trees, and at the end of the drive we saw the beautiful historic main house. We knew we found something special. We walked the grounds, saw all the adorable rooms, the grand reception hall with huge crystal chandeliers, the more intimate wood beamed cocktail room, the open patio with the amazing view, the pool and hot tub, and finally the ceremony site.

A large open site with a huge tree front and center. I turned to my then-fiance and told him, I think this is it. Once we sat down and started talking dates and costs, they informed us of "Dan's Deals". My fiance and I were going to be paying for our entire wedding ourselves, so budget was a huge factor.

They offered us a great deal if we booked a date that was 3 months away. My fiance and I love a good challenge, so after getting the parents' approval we decided to go for it.

The venue and everyone working at the venue was MORE than perfect. Everyone was super responsive, available to answer questions at nearly any time in the day, sweet, smiling and just seemed to love their job! The venue itself was beautiful, clean, amazing.

I felt like I was living in a fairy tale the entire weekend. We would walk around at night surrounded by fireflies, little bunnies, frogs, and even a little groundhog poked his head out to see what was going on. It was better than anything I ever imagined. The sheets were so soft and comfortable, and they even found a pair of sunglasses someone had left behind and mailed them to me!

Best weekend of my life. This place was beautiful, accommodating and great to work with. We had a beautiful day and the wedding was incredible. However in the event that you have rain this could be a very difficult place for your wedding but that is just trust anyway! We just had our wedding this past weekend, and I do not have enough wonderful things to say about the location.

Henriette Buell was our gem, without a doubt. She not only works at the Bed and Breakfast, but also acted as my wedding planner, f The location is very flexible with opportunities to save. We had our wedding Thanksgiving weekend, which allowed us to use all of the rooms from Wednesday to Sunday. Along with Henriette's help, it was a relaxed and well organized week! They were all incredible and worked well as a team. It was an excellent combination! We had an indoor wedding with shuttles to the nearby Hampton Inn, which allowed for a safe and easy wedding.

Aside from the onsite amenities, the owners are incredibly kind and flexible. The staff was always friendly, the breakfast was incredible, and I felt supported throughout the whole week! We were very excited to have our wedding at Briar Patch so that everyone in the wedding party would be together all weekend!

It was nice to be able to set up the reception hall on Friday for our Saturday wedding. The rehearsal dinner by the poo Our wedding ceremony on the hilltop was perfect! The cocktail hour was held outside as well, it was in front of the house with lawn games. The reception hall is set up really nicely for wedding receptions and I love the big chandeliers. On Sunday, we had everybody back by the pool for a brunch. It was a wonderful wedding weekend and we enjoyed having it at Briar Patch! It was not only the best day of our lives, but the best weekend too.

We feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to celebrate o The vibe was casual but professional, the setting was stunning and understated, and dogs and cats roamed the property. And the price was perfect. I could not believe that the cost included use of all of the space AND all of the rooms. During the year of our engagement, BP was so helpful and responsive. Stupid questions were immediately answered with patience and enthusiasm, and impromptu visits during the week were always welcomed.

The staff consistently went out of the way to help me and Sean feel comfortable and excited. We also signed up for Henriette Buell's day-of wedding coordination, which is a separate business Buelltiful Events , but she manages BP and lives on the premises.

She was amazing and a real joy to work with. She is so calming and straight forward, and I absolutely recommend working with her. The weekend was everything we wanted. Then our friends helped us set up for our Welcome Dinner, which ended up being of our guests!

We ended the night with an open mic where people gave toasts. I can't recommend something like this enough! We had so much fun getting ready while the guys hung out and got dressed in the living room of the main house.

Our ceremony was on a hill towards the back of the property, which was perfectly serene and beautiful. Leading up to the wedding day we were nervous about space. The room fits people, but we had people and an 11 piece band. Our band set up in the back left corner and tables covered the entirety of the space. After dinner, 7 of the 20 tables were broken down for dancing.

The band was so great that everyone was ready to dance as soon as they walked in, and since the broken down tables were all of our young friends, they didn't mind at all.

In terms of space, it was tight. The tables were close to each other, but that just enhanced the experience for us. It felt like one big dinner party of the people we loved the most. For a wedding of people, the BP setting made everything feel so intimate and wonderful. The setting was homey and comfortable that we felt so relaxed by Saturday, and the wedding was as if were just welcoming these guests into our own home.

Finally, our friend made a video that shows the fun weekend! Just watch and see what you could have! We absolutely loved having our wedding at the Briar Patch this April - it made for a wonderful wedding weekend and we got many compliments from our guests. They easily worked with all of our vendors, and were extremely flexible with additional requests like dropping items off early and having several walk-throughs of the space for engagement photos and vendors.

We highly recommend them and only wish we could do it all again! When my husband and I set out to plan our wedding, we knew that we didn't want the conventional wedding weekend. Instead, we wanted to put our own spin on things by keeping everything simple and relaxed in a beautiful outdoorsy setting with lot Instead of one long marathon wedding day, we split things up by holding an intimate family ceremony on Friday night instead of a rehearsal and dinner, followed by a big party on Saturday where we invited additional friends to join us!

This was made possible because we had exclusive use of the property from Friday afternoon to lunch on Sunday. We had the freedom, flexibility, and tools to take things slow, enjoy the location, be together with friends and family, and do things our way. The Briar Patch staff went out of their way to support this non-traditional format, and was a huge resource and supporter every step of the way.

Leading up to our wedding, they answered each question in record time, provided vendor suggestions we loved Helga's!!! The weekend of the event they welcomed us with open arms, remained on site to provide support, and hosted my family for a delicious breakfast each morning.

We are so grateful that you were a part of our big day, and know that we will be celebrating anniversaries and milestones with you for years to come! Thanks for everything! Back when we were engaged my husband and I really prayed for the perfect wedding venue. A place where family and friends could hang out before the wedding day. The last thing I wanted was to rush everything flowers, food, time with loved ones We called in and went to check out the place It was our first and ONLY choice.

With the wonderful pictures and reviews now us being there in person It was the perfect place for us to have our family and loved ones together days before the wedding. Because of budget purposes we did not have a florist do our flowers, but we ordered them wholesale and made them ourselves. We also did not hire a wedding planner, but instead I along with family planned it all. The food, decorations, and environment was all very family friendly. We worked with mason jars and had a BBQ dinner and throughout the whole wedding we couldn't imagine our wedding being any better.

There was no need in decorating the place that much because it was all beautifully made. Briar Patch went beyond our expectations We got married on November 30th. The staff was very professional and friendly- Best people I have ever worked with.

It was not just another wedding for them. At the wedding I remember seeing Tricia moving chairs from room to room - She was helping staff that we hired Tricia did not have to do this We fell in love with The Briar Patch as soon as we pulled up for our tour. We left that day knowing our wedding day would be magical.

Throughout our Henriette quickly helped us move our plan indoors without batting an eye. She helped with making sure we were not stressed and took moments to ourselves. Our friends and family gathered in the Bronze room for a most magical ceremony.

We then enjoyed two days of celebrating with our friends and family most of whom stayed at the Inn with us. We could not have started our marriage in a better way.

The personal touch of feeling like the staff was family truly made us feel special. The Briar Patch gave us a very warm, welcoming experience and were quite flexible with our situation.

I say this because we had an outdoor ceremony planned in July, it rained on our wedding day, and we were able to have both the ceremony and r What a relief! Their staff was very attentive and helpful, and whole place had a homey feel, even though it had a nice elegance as well.

The pool is a very nice addition to the grounds, and partially because of that we had our rehearsal dinner there, too. Great place for adults-only events, family events, and everything in between. The Briar Patch was such an amazing venue for our wedding at the end of July!

It was wonderful to spend the weekend with both of our families and the bridal party at the beautiful Inn. We held the rehearsal dinner by the pool which was really f The ceremony was at the top of the driveway so our pictures have the gorgeous mountain backdrop.

The reception at the Fox Den was elegant and perfect for our guests. And, above all, the staff at the Briar Patch provided us with amazing service and were so kind leading up to our big day and for the whole weekend! I would highly recommend the Briar Patch to any engaged couple! I fell in love with the Briar Patch via the internet across the pond in England.

I was planning a wedding for hopefully 4months time if my visa came through, so couldn't actually book anything. On a trip to visit my fiance in April , we w Finally managed to book a midweek August wedding barely 2 months before the date having at last received approval to marry an American! Everyone at the Briar Patch was wonderful via email and Tricia was great help both on the day we visited initially and on the day itself.

Not really what you want to do on the morning after your wedding. You have a choice of several different locations with views for outdoor ceremonies and they have an ample sized receiving hall. The inn itself is adorable and the cottage is delightful However, the service we received we both considered to be shockingly inadequate given how much we spent and the way they advertise.

Our contract said we could check in at 3 pm and when we arrived to do so no one was anywhere in site to greet us and the rooms were still being made up.

We hung around with our whole bridal party for a half an hour wandering around trying to find someone. When we finally did, they acted surprised we expected something as simple as a greeting and a walk-through to make sure everything was set up as we liked! They didn't bother, just told us to make ourselves at home. No information was given. One of the reasons we went with Briar Patch was the idea of having the extra time on site with our bridal party, almost of all of whom had traveled for our wedding as we did, from GA.

The inn advertises use of the pool and hot tub, which we were all looking forward to. The pool was not clean, still had leaves in it, no one told us where to find towels or chairs and again, we spent a good half an hour trying to find them or someone to tell us where they were. The hot tub was great the first night, but the second night when we all went to relax after the wedding guests had left, it was frigid.

They told us it had been refilled that morning and we had to turn it on with the cover over it and let it sit for hours to heat up.

That would have been great information to have before 9 pm when we want to relax in it! The owner was rude whenever I interacted with him except for during the wedding itself. The morning of he was making sarcastic comments that had all my girl's eyebrows raised and was frankly the last thing a bride needed, and when I asked him to please stop, he responded with more sarcasm!

I couldn't believe how we were treated, especially given how expensive a location it is. To top it off, the last night we stayed there, the ceiling of one of my bridesmaid's room leaked right onto her and her husband and their baby in bed!

When I called the on site manager, she tried to persuade us the room we moved them into vacated by a wedding party member who had to leave earlier didn't need the sheets changed! It took her half an hour to get over to put clean sheets on despite the fact that I told her it was the couple with the baby, and no they really did not want to sleep in someone else's bedsheets.

The location is stunning, the food is delicious, we had an amazing wedding, but I don't know if I could recommend it based on the abysmal service. We were very happy from the very beginning in dealing with the Briar Patch. We always heard back from them promptly with answers. You couldn't ask for a better setting for a wedding. They have 3 locations for weddings; out front, in the back, We had ours out front and it was such a wonderful setting for the ceremony under the tree.

Then it's just a short walk for guests to the Fox Den for the cocktail hour and reception. The Fox Den is so beautifully decorated that we didn't even add any additional decoration for the reception, just table cloths and center pieces. And the cottage is a wonderful place for the bridal party to get ready with plenty of space. A couple of our guests took advantage of the pool after our wedding which was nice. Overall I would highly recommend the Briar Patch as a perfect place for a wedding.

After you are done reading this go call them and schedule a visit! I do not even know where to begin. They were so flexible, they worked with our budget which was not much and gave us "Dan's owners Deal". They always communicated back in a timely manner and seriously are the nicest people ever. Again the staff was hands down the BEST and were there for us every moment leading up to the wedding and ensured everything ran smoothly on the big day.

As soon as you drive up to it, you feel like the rest of the world does not exist. It's very easily accessible yet makes you feel like you are in your own private world. It has a ton of options on where to do the ceremony, has 3 or more outside locations and 3 inside options.

Our ceremony was outside facing the breathtaking Bull Run Mountains. Followed by reception in the bronze and silver room and finally the doors opened to the gorgeous and super spacious ballroom. We had our reception here too the day before so we got to practice and both us and our caterer was able to set up the day before the wedding. Everything was set and decorated and ready for the next day.

AND our out of town guests were able to spend the night at the Bead and Breakfast which is onsite. The following morning we enjoyed amazing home made breakfast that was provided for us. The venue was exactly what we wanted: rustic, quaint and big enough to accommodate a larger wedding. The owner Dan is great and makes a mean pancake.

But as staff goes, the s If you choose Briar Patch, you absolutely must hire Henriette as your day-of coordinator - she even walked our dog during our reception! I can't say enough wonderful things about the Briar Patch. My cousin owns a music company and has been doing weddings in the DC area for 20 years. When I asked for his recommendations on a venue for mine, this was his first suggestion. Dan and Ellen are amazing - they did everything possible to make our weekend perfect.

Rooms are adorable and the breakfast is great! We had a live band in the reception area Olivera Entertainment - plenty of room and it really made the reception so fun. We did the rehearsal dinner on-site as many suggested and it made everything so easy as no one had to drive anywhere.

Do it - you will not regret it :. We just had our wedding at the Briar Patch, and everything went great. The scenery is beautiful. The staff is friendly and helpful. It was the perfect venue for hosting our rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, and a weekend in the country wit I highly recommend the Briar Patch to everyone. Love love love the Briar Patch! Henriette who I hired as my day-of coordinator was fa They really let you have the run of the place and let you design your own menu, decor, ceremony, etc.

Really lets you personalize your entire wedding weekend. The reception hall is gorgeous and climate controlled! I was able to relax and hang out with my bridesmaids and groomsmen in the hot tub and pool on the property after the rehearsal dinner and the reception.

Everything was just perfect the whole time. If you're looking for a venue that will give you a homey weekend getaway rather than making you feel like you're just temporarily occupying their space, then I highly recommend it. I loved this venue. It was very nice to have the place to ourselves the whole weekend. Everyone was super friendly and the breakfast both days was delicious! Considering the location price was not too bad. Some places the landscaping was a litt The Briar Patch and their staff were amazing.

Our guests loved it and the scenery was breath taking. It is well workt the money to have the venue space all to yourself from Friday-Sunday, with the bridal party getting to stay on site! We have to say that there is not other place in the world like the Briar Patch! We absolutely loved the attention that we got from the staff. They worked with us in every aspect of our wedding, allowing us to make changes and modifications to m They even allowed us to take our engagement pictures in their beautiful gardens.

When the big day arrived, they had prepared all of the chairs, tables, rooms, etc. The venue is simply astonishing and breathtaking. Also, the service they provide with their bed and breakfast is excellent. The food is delicious and the rooms are cozy and clean.

I cannot image having our wedding in any other venue. Thank you Briar Patch. Ali and Luis. We can't thank Dan, Ellen, Henriette and staff enough for making our wedding weekend perfect! We had the property from wednesday-sunday which allowed our extended family to join us for Thanksgiving dinner and used the venue for our rehearsal di Despite the weather dropping 30 degrees from the rehearsal dinner friday and having to change our ceremony plans from outside on the front lawn and moving it indoors, everyone came together as a team and made it happen!

We couldn't ask for better staff and accommodations for our big day and can't wait to return for our complimentary anniversary visit, as well as wine tours and exploring the beautiful surroundings in Middleburg, VA.

Thank you Briar Patch for making our wedding day dreams come true! They have horses on the property for that country charm and rustic background and they have a great reception hall on site so getting from ceremony to reception is easy for everyone. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars i My husband and I had a wonderful time at the Briar Patch. Everyone there is so friendly and make you feel like family. Henrietta was fabulous and made us worry free.

We hired her to be our day of coordinator. Dan, Ellen, Charlotte and the re We would not have changed a thing about our wedding. If you are looking for a place to have a relaxing and worry free wedding day this is the place to have your wedding!

There are nearly 40 wineries within minutes of the Briar Patch, we ended up only visiting two while w If you're looking for a quiet getaway and delicious local wineries, check out the Briar Patch. We were upgraded to the cottage because it was our honeymoon and it was so cute. I think we'd definitely stay here again. We could not have been happier with the staff, location, amenities, and venue.

It was absolutely perfect. Since I was traveling there from Richmond, it was an absolute relief that all of the local vendors we used for other services were so fa Dan, Ellen, and Henriette were sweet, accommodating, generous, friendly, helpful We also really loved that we had the venue and the rooms for a few days as part of our package it's a huge relief to know that no one in the wedding party will be late because they are sleeping upstairs!

We would recommend the Briar Patch to absolutely anyone. To quote my husband, "6 stars, no, wait, give them all the stars! Such a fantastic venue! When my now husband and I started looking for venues we knew we did not want to have our ceremony in a traditional, ballroom location with no windows.

We were looking at lots of random locations, but once we got to Bri The flexibility that you have to bring in your own caterer, and alcohol was important to us since we wanted to serve the beer from the brewery we live above. The other selling point was that we would have the entire location to ourselves from Friday 4pm until Sunday at noon.

Our bridal party stayed in the main house, while we were in the cottage on Saturday night. We also had our pool-side Crab Feast rehearsal dinner here. The only thing I might have changed would have been to have one particular person to work with. However, other reviews felt that they did. However, Dan and his team are good at answering any questions you might have during or before the big day!

I would highly recommend the Briar Patch for a wedding or other event. The location is beautiful and the property is very well kept. The pricing is also very reasonable for the Northern Virginia area.

The staff and management were very h The on-site staff and service were wonderful as well. Cindy Huber. Our Monday afternoon wedding at Briar Patch was stunning. The staff here Dan, Henriette and Charlotte are the backbone of this amazing venue. It rained all day we had planned the majority of the wedding outside and I didn't even mind becaus We found Briar Patch online and emailed them for quotes. This was one of the few places I contacted that was honest and forthright with the costs, and they are incredibly prompt in their replies.

The value of Briar Patch is unprecedented. We had sole access to the entire venue, and our guests were able to stay on site. They provided a delicious home-cooked breakfast each day, and the scenery is incredible.

They know the vendors in Northern Virginia and have a knack for connecting you with honest, open, flexible vendors like themselves. I was not always excited by the prospect of planning a wedding, and the staff here made me excited to have my wedding. They answered all of my questions, helped me when I needed clarification and were understanding if I was running behind.

The rooms were cozy, warm, comfortable and loaded with old fashioned charm. The Fox Den was a perfect reception space and provided me with a beautiful, dry ceremony space as well.

You will be supported all the way through your wedding day. You will be able to enjoy your day without stress or worries. You will also feel as if you have been taken in as part of the family, and that is amazing just by itself.

Thank you Briar Patch for a wedding that exceeded all of our expectations, hopes and dreams. We are so pleased with our choice to have our wedding at Briar Patch - a totally beautiful venue. Much of our wedding party and family travelled from out of the area, and we really enjoyed sitting around the breakfast table together or in the hot tub relaxing and reconnecting before the wedding! Reserving the venue for the whole weekend makes Briar Patch a bit more expensive than some other venues, but it was so worth it.

Because we had the time and the space at Briar Patch, we were able to save money in other areas, such as by doing our own flowers and decorations and music. Because we had the venue to ourselves all weekend, we were also able to save money and hassle! We used these and not only saved ourselves a mountain of stress and hassle in designing table decorations but got great compliments from our guests!

The way the space is designed, you can also do everything all in the same place, which helps minimize travel for everyone. We had our ceremony indoors in the ballroom but the grounds are beautiful and perfect for an outdoor wedding and Briar Patch has outdoor chairs you use — no need to rent additional chairs! We got beautiful pictures on the grounds after the ceremony.

And finally, the Briar Patch team was great to work with. In the months leading up to the wedding, the team was always very responsive, answering our questions quite quickly and thoroughly. Briar Patch was also able to recommend local vendors, which really helped us narrow our vendor search and gave us confidence that we were looking at vendors whose good reputations preceded them.

All in all, we highly, highly recommend Briar Patch for your special day!
