Gemstar guideplus update

But an instant later it mysteriously becomes grayed out and different icons show up! That may well be software like Gemstar that is only available on the install CD.

I also have a Haupage card with BeyondTV and that's the way it works. There is always a delay from the live broadcast. So there is no way to have a regular TV feed and the computer in sync on different screens. BeyondTV claims it's impossible not to have a delay which is a not correct.

Like you, I don't want it recording to the hard drive. I just want the TV feed displayed on my monitor. Ben Original Message Ok, thanks. Do you or anyone else here have v9. If your nickname is not to be taken literally, hee hee how are you with hacking into software? Do you know how to do that? So I think it must be coded into the software, but where? If we could find out this address, that could possibly lead to some answers if it's now an invalid address.

I guess I'm on my own again. Feb 1, 8 0 0. I recently started having problems, too. All was well until last week when I decided to do a complete reinstall of my OS and applications. I wasn't having any problems prior to that. The reason I suspect IE7 is because when I reinstalled my HP all-in-one drivers and software, I wasn't able to use the scanner function anymore.

Now, why on earth IE7 should interfere with that, I don't know, but HP's website and newsgroups said it was the culprit, and I went to HP's website and downloaded a patch and the scanner function is working again.

Feb 2, 2 0 0. I have not used the Guide Plus program in a few years and recently tried it out. I had the same problems you are having error downloading patch or cannot connect to internet. I read on the ati web site to go to add remove programs and select repair. That fixed part of the glitch regarding unable to load panelad. Is there a site to download a patch directly? Has anyone called Gemstar to find out if they can email a patch file?

I also think that is related to IE7 internet explorer Version 7 I have had problems with other programs as a result of IE7. Originally posted by: dr lee Is there a site to download a patch directly? Do either of you know anything about this? I happened to see a rule in my firewall to allow that, so at least at one time that was the IP. Also, do you let Windows updates automatically download and install?

I'm still betting it's a software problem, since some people aren't having any problems. I was hoping it was IE7, cause that I could un-do, but from what you're saying, it's a problem with IE6, too. I heard back from the Gemstar people and naturally he said there's no way of manually updating it!

Ok guys I found a fix for this. As I had expected, it's a URL problem so that's definitely a network issue! The freakin' Gemstar URL's have changed! Just double-click the "1", "2", and "URL" areas and paste that into each area.

I don't know which is which, but one area is for the listings update, another is for the patch download updates, and I don't know what the other is for.

I have not tried to do the patch update via "System Update Wizard" because I ain't messin' with this anymore! So tell me, how did you find out what the correct URLs were, if the Gemstar idiots didn't even know it themselves? I can't tell you how happy this makes me - my internet provider gives a basic channel guide, but it's nowhere near as nice or convenient as the GuidePlus one. Thanks again for all the hard work. Hey glad it worked! I found the URL suffix just doing some research.

Random Trend Junior Member. Feb 4, 1 0 0. I can't even run the Gemstar update wizard, it says "Connecting to web" then doesn't go any further then it shows "An error occurred when downloading the patch". I've tried searching for all of those phrases and apparently I'm the only person on the planet experiencing this so far, or maybe no one has posted it anywhere that the search engines have picked up on. This alleged "fix" 3rd post from the bottom doesn't even work!

It was something about changing your zip code to , not sure how that was supposed to help. I have even totally removed it and reinstalled it, and it still doesn't work! This is becoming infuriating. I've tried combinations of first trying the program update, or first trying the listings update, and doing both ways after "repairing" and installing. Also all combinations of doing that after removing those two folders mentioned at that URL. This makes absolutely no sense unless the Gemstar servers have totally disappeared--which they have not.

I was actually able to contact Gemstar and they told me there's no reason why this should be happening!
