Norton anti virus firewall software

Excessive ads even with a Deluxe subscription. I purchased Norton Deluxe with Lifelock a little over a year ago. As far as it's protection, it is a great product. Though I do have a big issue with their service, this is their constant ads. I turned off my popups in windows so it stops notifying me but that is an annoyance on a paid product to be loaded with ads. Now they want me to use my computer's idle time for money.

Well if they just had 1 banner ad and then let me close out that, it woul Show More d be fine. Nope, now when I open up Norton to look at it there is a giant banner on top causing me to scroll through to get the the services I need. Why not make this closeable? Again, I am paying for this, enough with the ads. Guess what? Again with ads Again, I should be able to close this, there is a service behind this and I cannot access it because this ad is blocking it.

Literally blocking the product I have paid for. They have seriously blocked me from using a paid product by a stack of 6 ads for other services I might want. I buy antivirus for the obvious protection. I run a small business and I need my stuff secure, I need financials safe, I need to know that my customer's information is safe, I need to be able to communicate safely and reliably with customers so my phone and computer must have protection so I don't lose everything.

I completely understand Norton having better options, having other services available to me if needed. They are a great product and have ways to make it better. What I think they should do instead of keeping constant banners and ads and popups is have a selectable option Need Something Else? Hell, having 1 banner or ad pop up roughly once a month that had a little "x" on it which I could close to not see again would be fine.

That is what other services do. But this constant annoyance has brought me here, to knock their otherwise great product, because I feel if enough people know and share their negative experience Norton will hopefully change this to something a little less undesirable.

I have literally wasted 30 minutes because of my annoyance, thank you Norton. I initially posted this elsewhere, just wanted to expand potential views of my post. VERY Unethical company. If I could give them NO stars I would. Had heard so many great things about Norton thought I'd give it a try.

Installed the free trial they offered. It would not work. Could not get it to even open. Kept getting messages that it could not "connect". Uninstalled and re-installed it after making sure all remnants of previous install was removed. Sat on phone NO ONE answered. No response to multiple emails. Finally removed it from my system. Show More has expired. My email address had to come from Norton. It was an email that I seldom used and then ONLY for personal correspondence with three 3 family members.

To this day the only consistent spam email I get at that email address is regarding Norton. Makes me believe this company, that brags about how secure our personal information entrusted to them, is selling our email address.

Would never trust them again. Will never allow them near any personal information again Denis Desautels J. I too, had a very bad experience with Norton with LifeLock. The first problem is that you have to manually turn the VPN on. This is ridiculous. Second problem is you cannot change your phone number. They have to cancel your ac Show More count and create a new one for you. When they create your new account you have to give them a new email.

Most people don't have multiple email accounts. I ended up getting a refund. How can anyone expect them to protect you when they can't do simple things. Norton is a joke. Lousy Product - Norton Premium. For starters I have had difficulty installing Norton Premium. After 2 tel calls to Norton lasting many hours , I manage to install it. Then came other problems. Luckily was able to recover to Windows thro system restore. Recently got another BSOD which is unrecoverable.

Have to re-install Windows 10 Professional. Now losing confidence in Norton products and that is why at this website to asses whether to continue with Norton.

It is quite to get a refund because I bought it at retail outlet. I lost my job a few months back after my divorce with my wife. I tried everything positive to make sure I took good care of my kids but all failed, and I was in debt which makes everythin Show More g worse.

I was kicked out of my home and i had to live with my neighbor after pleading with her to allow me to stay with her for some days while I figured out how to get a home which she agreed to, but no one was willing to help anymore.

I bumped into this page from google and I was excited about this, then I contacted the hackersBill Dean.

I never believed my eyes! The card got blocked the third day and I contacted them and I was told it's a mistake from my end. Be carefull with the Credit Card automatic renewal button, That reminder renewal number from to time to renew will disappear, and just say active, so beware of renewal end date for one, second they give you Norton utilities if you have automatic renewal for free, but if you cancel automatic renewal option, Norton utilities will cancel automatically, then the next time I turned my computer on, I was locked out from windows.

Mohammed E. Actually, i bought norton deluxe and only thing is ui is horrible! Then i realized that ui can changed to normal ui.

There's only 2 themes and one is super bad. After changing to old ui, norton wasnt that bad. It blocked viruses from opening. Better than free avs, malwarebytes etc free and its super cheap only 11 dollars for Turkey.

Ron Levine. No, Norton didn't stop it I upgraded to the "lifelock" thing, and just found out My bank and Paypal are with me and helping Bob Loeffler. Don't buy it. I purchased Norton for Mac because I'm a subcontractor and the main contractor for the project told me I had too. I regret it. Just as you would if you want to protect your home with security cameras and motion sensors, strong locks on the doors and windows, and a guard dog who barks stridently whenever someone approaches, security software uses multiple means for protection, including a firewall that protects against unauthorized access, and from the wrong data getting in or out of your computer. Specific threats that firewalls protect against include: Improper Connection Attempts - Be warned about connection attempts from other computers and of attempts by programs on your computer to connect to other computers Port Scans - Cloak the inactive ports on your computer thereby providing protection against attacks through hacking techniques such as port scanning Intrusions - Monitor the network traffic to or from your computer for suspicious behavior and stops any attack before they threaten your system A firewall protects against these types of intrusions to your computer and works in conjunction with the other layers of security to provide advanced online threat protection.

Do I have a firewall on my computer? Because it looks at communications between your computer and other computers on the Internet, it protects your computer by: Warning you if other computers or programs on your computer attempt to connect to other computers Cloaking inactive ports where internet traffic comes in , providing protection against hacking techniques that use them Monitoring network traffic coming into and going out from your computer for suspicious behavior, and blocking attacks before they intrude onto your system While a built-in firewall in a computer is one step toward security, security software that includes a firewall provides much more thorough protection against all sorts of threats like malware, viruses and intrusions.
